School starts so early...

Whoa, what do you mean we’re here before 12th grade even started…
Didn’t get anything done in study hall either, brought a John Cena home after school ()

Mysterious No.1 High School 4-day mini break 😡 The regular classes got the full 7 days!!

Alright… the way things look right now—right now, that is—I can only accept reality.

Sometimes I keep wondering what I even got into the Honors Program for back then.

Back then… oh, right. In 8th grade, I was exempted from the PE portion of the high school entrance exam due to injury, and it was directly calculated as 17/30 points. By 9th grade, the whole family was worried whether that gap would still be enough to get into No.1 High School, and whether I’d need to make it up somewhere else… After No.1 High School’s Fertile Soil Program came out, real quick Ma Baoguo voice I signed up and went to take the exam. So at first it was entirely about hoping to add some points, or that the school could pull some strings after I got in… At the time I already vaguely sensed this damn program wasn’t gonna be some cushy thing. Anyway, somehow I did get in…

Honestly, in my heart, even without the Fertile Soil Program, getting into No.1 High School was a sure thing… but the family always thought an extra layer of insurance was better—not unreasonable, and indeed true.

Later, after the high school entrance exam and scores came out, my raw score was still over ten points above the cutoff. By that point, if you’re being pragmatic, the Fertile Soil Program could be considered useless, since I could get into No.1 High School without it anyway. The family (the family again, huh) didn’t force me to attend the Fertile Soil bridging classes either, just said to try it for a day or two first, and that the teachers would definitely be top-tier no matter what. Fine, I’ll just treat it as a summer bridging class. September came and school officially started, and I was naturally placed into the Honors Program…

So basically, my reason for entering the Honors Program was, from the start, just pragmatically for points.

And how did it turn out? Now, breaks are never full, homework is never finished, and the good stuff and honors are pre-assigned to Class 1…

What did I get out of it? Maybe it’ll only show later on.

Since school started, sometimes I think, if I weren’t in the Honors Program, I’d definitely be living more comfortably than now—that’s for sure. I also don’t believe this hundred-something people in the Honors Program could produce more than three Tsinghua/Peking University admits, and I firmly oppose certain inhumane practices of the school… Too bad my own strength isn’t enough.

That said—but that’s one thing, this is another—I genuinely really like the vibe of our class. I’d even dare say, our class as a collective is the most united in the entire 10th grade, maybe even the whole school. The class culture, to some extent, maybe stitched up our wounds.

Before I knew it, I’d written another page. Time to sleep.

Good night; sweet dreams.
